The Only Claude Skills You Need for SEO

Don’t use Claude to do your SEO. I keep telling my clients this until I’m blue in the face, but they don’t always listen. That said, if you know the basics of search optimization and you don’t swallow everything the LLM tells you hook, line, and agent (get it?), here are some genuinely useful skills that can take you a long way, without replacing the expertise you still need to get real results.

So SEO can be automated now?

In a word: not yet. But I’m convinced it will be within a few years. By then, though, traditional SEO will be so intertwined with AI search that it will probably be unrecognizable.

In the meantime, today’s AI assistants, Claude and ChatGPT in particular, offer a limited selection of SEO connectors and skills, and most of them won’t do much for anyone who appreciates a real audit. A handful stand out, mainly because they help you spot certain issues from an angle you hadn’t considered.

In other words, they complement a professional audit, or they can give you a first set of leads to work on until you have the budget to pay for one. A good way to avoid wasting time, basically.

Their biggest flaw, across the board, is how they assess ROI, impact, and required effort. Many of their optimization recommendations, while technically accurate, will have a negligible effect on your site’s success. They’ll eat up resources with no financial return, or at the very least no meaningful gain in visibility.

My Picks: Claude Code Skills

To make my selection, I tested each skill on my personal website, which I rarely optimize for lack of time. While they flag the same issues about 70% of the time, the way they deliver that information and suggest next steps varies a lot.

Agentic SEO

Kicking in automatically the moment you mention “SEO,” Bhanunamikaze’s Agentic SEO Skill doesn’t do things halfway: 16 sub-skills, 10 agents, and 89 scripts covering everything from data collection to automation.

It really shines on anything related to technical implementation: hreflang, Core Web Vitals, and consistency across your Schema markup. Its handling of firewalls is also a pleasant surprise.

On the downside, some of its advice is overblown (e.g., flagging a missing llms.txt file as a serious problem, or urging you to optimize your meta descriptions right away).

Another drawback is the installation. Like many skills, it’s installed from GitHub rather than from the Claude marketplace. You can install Agentic SEO from this link. All it takes is a few lines in Claude Code, nothing complicated.

Claude SEO

AgricIDaniel’s skill is probably one of the best known, and it’s still a safe bet.

Less concise and to the point than Agentic SEO but more detailed, Claude SEO digs deep into each optimization area (technical, content, etc.) and backs up its recommendations well.

Ahead of the curve on GEO/AEO and on hosting- and CDN-related errors, it gives relevant, immediately actionable advice with sensible prioritization. No fewer than 30 commands are available, from full-site audits to building topic clusters.

The downsides: some recommendations feel very cosmetic, such as dropping certain sections of the site, and deliverables like the PDF report are hard to read.

That said, it offers so many possibilities that Claude SEO can carry you a long way. A great starting point; here’s the GitHub repo.

Marketing Skills for AI Agents

Corey Haines offers an entire marketing department here, complete with SEO and AEO/GEO skills.

More limited than the previous two when it comes to SEO, it still hits the mark fairly often without going overboard. Above all, it covers the full range of marketing functions, letting you connect SEO with other disciplines in no time. It’s the perfect playground for deploying agents that can pick the right skill for each situation.

Its more generalist profile, however, means its recommendations are sometimes vague.

It’s an obvious choice if you’re launching large-scale marketing campaigns. The GitHub repo is here.

A Few Words of Caution

  • Most of the time, installation happens directly in the app’s Claude Code section by typing two or three lines.
  • All three of these skills can run scripts, which means there’s a potential risk. I used them without any particular issue, but I still recommend reading the scripts and having Claude ask for manual approval before each action.
  • Everything is in English by default, but you can switch the output language as you go if you work on non-English sites.
  • This list isn’t exhaustive. Other skills like SuperSEO, SEO & AEO Agent Skills, and GEO SEO are also decent and worth a closer look.
  • Ideally, don’t enable several SEO skills at the same time: they’ll all react to the same terms and become a bottomless token pit. Keep several installed, but ask Claude to disable the ones you don’t want to use right now.

Beyond that, here’s another friendly reminder not to trust 100% of what the LLM tells you. Pick your battles based on impact, and don’t hand your SEO over to skills just yet. Use them for inspiration, then put your own spin on things. Once you’ve found the right formula, automate the process by giving your agents access to a specific skill, with clear guardrails on exactly what they should do with it.

Claude skills are a fantastic resource for your team. They can generate an imperfect first pass on your site and reduce your agents’ mistakes by connecting them to these pockets of knowledge.
